Nuorttitunturi fell in January Sun - Nuorttitunturi tammikuun myötäauringossa -
Nuorttitunturi fell is situated in the northern part of Varrio Conservation area. When the weather is clear you can see the Nuortti sceneries (top is at 482 meters above sea level) well from Varrio one fell. On 19 Jan 2007, the weather was semi-cloudy and the midday sun gave her first lights to Nuortti fell.
Nuorttitunturi, korkeudeltaan 482 metriä, on Värriön luonnonpuiston pohjoisosassa, ja se näkyy hyvin Värriö ykkösen laelta - jos sää näkyvyyden sallii. 19.1.2007 oli puolipilvinen sää, ja keskipäivän aurinko paistoi jo Nuorttitunturiin.

Skiing to Kotovaara - Hiihtäen Kotovaaraan
Daily winter routines in Varrio Research Station is to ski to the SMEAR measurement station in Kotovaara, about one km north of the main building. Originally, at the beginning of the 1990s, the SMEAR station was established far enough from the main buildings so that temporarily from heating ovens or sauna ovens emission (small particles) are far enough and do not disturb the main measurements. SMEAR-towers were in winterly cover, but it was easy to climb up there and take some photos over the surroundings. The date for photos 11 Dec 2005.
Värriön päivän rutiineihin kuuluu käynti noin kilometrin päässä pohjoisempana, Kotovaaran laella olevalle SMEAR -asemalle. Mittausasema perustettiin 1990-luvun alussa riittävän kauaksi tutkimusaseman päärakennuksista, että esimerkki takasta tai saunan kiukaasta savupiippuun silloin tällöin pärskähtävät hiukkaset eivät häiritse päämittauksia. SMEAR päätorni oli huurteessa, mutta kyllä sinne torniin saattoi kiivetä ja kuvata ympäristöä. Kuvien päivämäärä 11.12.2005.

Itsenäisyyspäivän kuvia, taannoin - Finland Independence Day memories, from older times
We drove with snow mobiles in 2008 Independence Day from Ainijärvi parking area to Varrio Research Station. Nuorttitunturi fell was to the left from the trail. The sun tried to rise, but on 6 December there was no success, quite far behind the Arctic Circle.
Ajoimme moottorikelkalla vuoden 2008 itsenäisyyspäivänä Ainijärven pysäköintipaikalta Värriön tutkimusasemalle. Nuorttitunturi jäi uran vasemmalle puolelle. Aurinko yritti nousta, mutta eipä se enää 6. joulukuuta tasolla onnistunut, näin kaukana napapiirin pohjoispuolella.

Lights of mid winter - Kaamoksen valoja
Lights of mid winter, above Arctic Circle, appear on some clear and cold days. Hunting of those lights with camera is challenging. There lights were above Nuorttitunturi fell, in Varrio Nature Conservation area, on 16 Dec 2004.
Napapiirin yläpuolella kaamoksen valot tulevat taivaalle näkyviin ennen joulua, tiettyinä pakkaspäivinä. Niiden valojen metsästys kameralla on yksi kiehtovimpia ulkoilun haasteita. Nämä valot olivat Nuorttitunturin päällä, Värriön luonnonpuistossa, 16.12.2004.

Täysikuun aikaa - Time of full moon
Joulukuun 3. vuonna 2017 on täysikuun aikaa. Silloin tällöin joulun aluskauden pilvipeite antaa periksi, kuten tässä tapauksessa vuonna 2005. Taustalla Nuorttitunturi.
December 3rd was the time of full moon this year. Now and then the early December cloudy sky opens up for the moon, like her in 2005. Nuorttitunturi fell behind.

Lokakuu on Lapissa lumikuu - Snowy month instead of Muddy month
Perinteisesti Lapissa on satanut ensilumen lokakuussa; näinä ilmastonmuutoksen aikoina emme voi olla enää varma että ensilumi säilyy marraksen puolelle. Kuvassa ensilumeen on peittynyt (lokakuun puolivälissä 2004) horisontissa Värriön luonnonpuiston Nuorttitunturi. Etualan rakka on Kotovaaraa.
Traditionally the first snow in Finnish Lapland comes in October. In these times of climate change we cannot be sure that the first snow stays until November. The Finnish word "Lokakuu" means muddy month. In Lapland the description should mean snowy month. In the picture (from mid October 2004) the first snow has covered Varrio nature reserve Nuorttitunturi fell in the horizon and Kotovaara hill in front.

Nuorttitunturi ruskan jälkeen - Nuortti fell after ruskacolors
Suomen puolen riekonmarja on Nuorttitunturissa väreiltään vaiennut, Venäjän puolen poronjäkälä taas jatkaa lokakuun alkupuolella (vuodelta 2005) edelleen valkoisen hohtavana. Tai valkoinen alkaa jo Suomen puolen poroaidasta, mikä menee viistosti huipun vasemmalta puolelta. Horisontin silhuetissa siintää myös Suomen puolen rajavartiotorni.
On the top and on the slope of Nuorttitunturi fell the red ruskacolor of Alpine bearberry has vanished on Finnish side (left). Reindeer lichen shines continuously as white on Russian side. Actually, the white color starts already from Finnish reindeer fence that goes over the mountain left over the top. In the horizon there is also the Finnish border tower.
