Photos of the season (from mid-May 2007). Alpine bearberry (Arctostaphylos alpina) gives the most colourful and shining, arctic autumn colours. The colour peak is in the latter half of September. Then the snow comes and presses the Alpine bearberry down. The colours disappear, or they change into brown. Then this pretty dull colour shows up when the snow disappears in spring, like here in Varrio I fell.
