Professori Pertti Harin kanssa kairasimme taannoin (kuva elokuulta 2004, Värriö I tunturin alapuolelta) Värriön ikipetäjiä, tutkailimme ikiä ja menneiden metsäpalojen jälkiä. Vanhin puu taisi silloin olla luokkaa 400 vuotta. Mikähän mahtaa olla Itä-Lapin tai Koilliskairan mitattu ennätys, vanhin pystyssä kasvava mänty?


We measured in 2004 with Professor Pertti Hari the ages and remnant signs of forest fires in old Scots pines of Varrio strict nature reserve. As far as I remember the oldest standing tree was some 400 years old. What might the measured record now in Eastern or Northeastern Lapland forests, what is the age of oldest, still living Scots pine tree?
