Kuukkelin kanta vakaa - Population of Siberian jay is stabile

Tämä havaintotiheys vastaa kuukkelin populaatiota 91 kuukkeliparia Värriön luonnonpuistossa. Kanta vaihtelee, mutta on vakaa: ei kasva eikä vähene.
Alemman kuvan kuukkelipari tarkkailee tutkimuksia SMEAR-mittausasemalla.

Although Siberian jay (Perisoreus infaustus) is a visible bird for hiker or hunter in East Lapland wilderness, it is observed in point and block monitoring lines relatively seldom, on average only three times a year (the graph in right, 17 years observations).
This observation density corresponds to population of 91 Siberian jay pairs in Varrio Nature Reserve. The populaion is stabile: fluctuates but does not increse nor decrease.
The Siberian jay couple in the lower photo follows SMEAR-research in Kotovaara hill.
