Luppoaika - Reindeer's lunch

Porot ovat Kotovaarassa kiertäneet luppoisia mäntyjä. Kaarnanpalat puiden tyvellä kertovat porojen lounastamisesta. Menu'ssa on laji mustaluppo (Bryoria fuscescens).

Reindeers are in trouble to dig the Cladonia lichens through the snow. Or they would be in trouble if the Bryoria fuscescens lichen would not be growing on the branches of Scots pine. And as the snow of about 70 cm deep is hard, reindeers can reach up with their lips and tongue.
Only pieces of Scots pine bark under the trees of Kotovaara hill tell that the reindeers have already had their lunch.
