Värriön luontopäiväkirja - Varrio nature diary

Keskipäivän aurinko nousee jo leveytensä verran Värriötuntureiden yläpuolelle. Kuvaushetkellä yksinäinen korppikoiras tuli auringosta päin, kronkkui ja alkoi heitellä puolivolttejaan aivan keväisen soidinlennon tapaan. Taitaa suunnitella pesimistä Syväkurun kalliopahdalle (Syväkurun yläpää kuvan keskellä).

In the latter half of January the midday sun has risen above the horizon behind the Varrio fells. While shooting the photograph a lonesome raven (Corvus corax) flew over the Deep Gorge (Syvakuru; the upper part in the middle of the photo). It started to call and adn displaying its spring flight, just like later in the spring befores the nesting. It may be that the ravens are planning to have their nest on the steep cliffs of Deep Gorge.
