Ruohokanukka on kurujen kukka - Dwarf cornel flowers in Varrio gorges

Ruohokanukka (Cornus suecica) on levinneisyydeltään niin skandinaavinen kasvi, että sen tieteellinen nimikin viittaa Ruotsiin ("suecica").
Dwarf cornel like the moist and shady gorges between the fells, like the plants in the photo in Deep gorge (Syvakuru) between Varrio fells two and three. Often Dwarf cornel is accompanied by Arctic kidney lichen (Neproma arcticum, in the right hand corner of the photo).
Dwarf cornel (Cornus suecica) is by distribution so Scandinavian plant that even her scientific name refers to Sweden ("suecica").
