Metso - mahdollisesti sama uros kuin luontopäiväkirjan kuvassa 31. tammikuuta - oli pudottaunut kieppiin Kotovaarassa. Menoaukko on kuvan keskellä, siitä metrin mittainen tunneli hangen alla, ja lähtöaukko kuva alalaidassa.

Capercaillie - possibly the male as in the Nature Diary photo of 31 January - had dived to the snow (in the middle), dug the tunnel of one meter under the snow, slept over night there, and left the shelter in the morning (below).
