Värriötunturissa paistoi kuu,
sellaista useinkin tapahtuu.
Mut eräs päivä oli vertaansa vailla,
kun kuu se paistoi niin oudolla lailla.
Sen keltainen naama oli tenhoava;
sen hurmaan täytyi alistua. (Muk. Justeeri).

It is also seen in this mid-noon (at 11:43) photo, that the midwinter moon does not set at all. It continues to travel high above the horizon from left to right for the four Christmas time daylight hours, and rises later for the midnight high in the sky, like the midsummer sun does at noon. The photo has been taken from northern slope of Varrio I towards Kotovaara hill and Nuortti fell.
