Värriön luontopäiväkirja - Varrio nature diary

Heti Värriön tutkimusaseman luoteispuolella, Kotovaaran kupeessa on jyrkkä kuru, Pirunkuru. Siinä on lampi, josta laskee pienoinen puro pohjoiseen, Ylinuortti -jokeen. Värriön luonnonpuistossa on useita jyrkkiä kuruja, joiden pohjalla, lampien reunoilla ja kuruissa virtaavine purojen laidoilla on oma kasvimaailmansa.

A few hundrer meters north-west from the station, in the foothills of Kotovaara, is a deep (small) canyon, the Devil´s canyon. At the bottom of the canyon there is a pond and a small creek flows away from the pond, towards north, finally joining the Ylinuortti river. There are several small canyon in Varrio conservation area. These canyon, their bottoms, shores of the ponds and the riverines of the creeks have their own flora, different from other forest and mountain flora of Varrio.
