Värriön luontopäiväkirja - Varrio nature diary

Värriön luonnonpuiston pohjoisrajana virtaava Ylinuortti pursuaa ruskan jälkeen puhdasta vettä. Nuorttitunturin juurelta lähtevä puro paisuu nopeasti niin leveäksi ja runsasvetiseksi pikku joeksi, että sen ylittämiseen tatrvitsee sillan niin sulan maan kuin lumen aikaan. Kuvassa (5.10.2005) joki virtaa vielä länteen, mutta vedet kyllä kääntyvät myöhemmin itään ja ylittävät rajan pohjoisempana.


Ylinuortti river flows as northern border of the Varrio nature reserve. The river has its abundant fountains on the foothill of the Nuortti fell. Ylinuortti gets from the wilderness immediately so much water that we need bridges to cross the river both in non-snow and snow time. In the photo (of 5.10.2005) the water flows still to west, but the waters turn later to east and cross the Russian border north of Varrio reserve.
