Nuortinahon liro on palannut - Wood sandpiper in Nuortinaho pond has returned

Naaras lienee vastaavasti hautomassa. Välillä vartiomiestä tuppaa nukuttamaan keskipäivän auringossa.

By the track to Varrio research station there is a small pond in the northern end of a small aapamirem called "Nuortinaho mire". This site has traditionally been occupied of Wood sandpiper. And there it was, waiting on the grassy shore of the pond. See the uppermost picture, left corner at the bottom.

This is apparently the male. The female should already be hatching. Now and then the watchman seems to get sleepy.
